One Homes to Develop Pakistan’s First Purpose-Built Student Accommodation for Women

Luna, Lahore aims to provide secure and professionally managed housing for female students.

British real estate developer One Homes, part of One Group, has announced Pakistan’s first purpose-built student accommodation for women—Luna, Lahore. The $435 million developer aims to address the growing demand for secure, structured, and professionally managed student housing in Pakistan.

The announcement was made in London by Aqib Hassan, Chief Commercial Officer of One Homes, alongside Giovanni Vonfanti, Walters & Cohen Architects, Cindy Walters, and Eren Kilic.

“Pakistan has approximately 2.5 million university students, and the purpose-built student accommodation sector is estimated to be valued at $30 billion—with zero institutional competition. Luna, Lahore, is a first-mover investment opportunity,” Hassan stated.

Strategically located in Lahore’s higher education district, the residence will be within a 3.5-mile radius of 12 major universities, serving over 100,000 students.

Hassan further emphasized, “This is more than housing—it’s about progress. By empowering young women and creating safe spaces for them to grow, we are investing in a brighter, more equitable future for Pakistan.”

Vonfanti highlighted that the project’s design would be the first of its kind, focusing on modern architecture and long-term suitability.

Cindy Walters, who contributed to the project’s extensive research, shared a personal perspective: “I have two daughters in university. Women make up over half of university enrollments in Pakistan’s urban areas but struggle with access to safe and affordable housing. Luna aims to change that, fostering empowerment through infrastructure.”

With its innovative approach, Luna, Lahore, marks a significant step towards improving student living conditions and advancing women’s education in Pakistan.
