Mountaineer Samina Baig is Rescued From K2 Base Camp by the Pakistan Army

Samina Baig, a well-known female climber, was successfully evacuated by the Pakistan Army on Sunday from the K-2 base camp when her health declined.

At the age of 21, Samina became the first woman from Pakistan to ascend Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world. Nanga Parbat, the ninth-highest mountain in the world, and the Seven Summits on seven continents are among the other mountains she has submitted.

Samina Baig was a member of the joint women’s K2 expedition team from Italy and Pakistan, consisting of eight members. On July 5, her serious health problems caused her to abandon her ascent.

After a protracted horseback ride and in critical medical condition, she was transferred from the K2 base camp to Shigar’s Askole district.

The Pakistan Army plane that was supposed to rescue her was unable to get to the base camp due to bad weather. Baig was thereafter driven to Skardu.

At the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Skardu, Baig is receiving medical attention from a group of Pakistani Army physicians. Sources claim that because of the drop in altitude, Baig’s health has somewhat improved.

After assessing Baig’s health, the decision to move her from Skardu will be taken. It is noteworthy to note that the K2 is 8,611 metres high, only surpassed by Mount Everest.
