Pakistan Chances are Bleak as the Women’s T20 Asia Cup Starts Today

In the Women’s T20 Asia Cup, which gets underway here on Friday, the Pakistani women’s cricket team will play for the first time since their series losses to the West Indies and England.
While Nepal and the United Arab Emirates will play in the tournament’s opening match, Pakistan’s first match will take place against the tournament’s favorite and archrival, India, one day later.
India, the United Arab Emirates, Nepal, and the Nida Dar-led team are all placed into Group “A.” Group ‘B’ comprises of Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Malaysia.
With their recent results, Pakistan’s chances of winning the trophy are slim. Pakistan has won just once in their last 14 games, which comprised both One-day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals.
After their dismal run, they had to make yet another change to their coaching staff. Mohammad Wasim became the team’s third head coach in the previous 12 months, and Abdur Rehman and Junaid Khan were named assistant and spin-bowling coaches, respectively. In addition, the women’s selection committee is always changing.
Pakistan’s squad that toured England for their final assignment before the T20 Asia Cup included as many as six players cut before the event began.
Before taking a plane to Sri Lanka, the 15-member team participated in an 11-day training camp in Karachi, which Nida said well prepared them.
In a statement released on Thursday, she stated, “As a captain, I am looking forward to giving my best.” “We have put a lot of effort into our work at the camp and have made an effort to strengthen every team weakness.
“We want to play brave and positive cricket. We want to show off our skills in a way that fits the conditions here while maintaining a cheerful attitude.
Following their encounter against India, Pakistan will play the UAE on July 23 and Nepal on July 21. The semi-finals, which take place on July 28th, will see the top two teams from each group advance.
In the semi-final of the most recent T20 Asia Cup, which took place in Sylhet, Bangladesh in October 2022, Pakistan, one of the top four teams, lost to Sri Lanka by one run.
