ICAP Launches First Diversity & Inclusion Awards to Promote Equity in Accounting
The inaugural ICAP D&I Awards 2025 recognize organizations driving workplace diversity and women’s participation across Pakistan and South Asia.

KARACHI: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) has officially launched its inaugural Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Awards 2025, marking a historic milestone for the accountancy profession in Pakistan and South Asia. The awards were unveiled simultaneously at ICAP Houses in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, celebrating organizations that have excelled in creating inclusive and equitable workplace environments.
The awards are the first of their kind by any accountancy regulator in the region and aim to recognize organizations registered with ICAP that are leading initiatives in diversity, equity, and inclusion. By highlighting best practices, the awards encourage more organizations to adopt policies and programs that foster fair opportunities, particularly for women and underrepresented groups.
Speaking at the Karachi ceremony, ICAP President Saif Ullah reiterated the institute’s commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in all professional spheres. “These awards reflect our dedication to fostering workplaces where everyone, regardless of gender or background, can thrive and contribute meaningfully,” he said.
Hina Usmani, Council Member and Chairperson of the CA Women Committee, shared the vision behind the awards and highlighted the committee’s impact over the past seven years. She explained that these initiatives have significantly increased women’s participation in the chartered accountancy profession and created pathways for their professional development. “Our goal has always been to remove barriers and provide women with opportunities to excel in their careers. The D&I Awards are an extension of this vision,” Usmani said.
Ashfaq Yousuf Tola, Council Member of ICAP and President of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), also lauded the committee’s efforts. He emphasized that the initiatives led by the CA Women Committee have not only advanced diversity in Pakistan but have also set a benchmark across South Asia. “Through innovative programs and first-of-their-kind initiatives, the committee has established leadership in promoting inclusion within the profession,” Tola remarked.
The D&I Awards 2025 focus on several key areas, including gender equality, fair hiring practices, employee development programs, and creating safe, inclusive workplace environments. Participating organizations were evaluated on their efforts to empower women, support professional growth, and implement policies that encourage inclusivity. By recognizing such achievements, ICAP aims to motivate other organizations to prioritize diversity and equity in their workplace strategies.
Over the years, ICAP’s CA Women Committee has been instrumental in driving change, launching mentorship programs, leadership initiatives, and capacity-building workshops for female professionals. The awards now provide a formal platform to honor these accomplishments and amplify the message that inclusivity is integral to professional excellence.
The launch of the D&I Awards is expected to inspire systemic changes in the accountancy sector, encouraging organizations to adopt proactive measures that ensure equal opportunities for all employees. By celebrating success stories and sharing best practices, ICAP aims to create a ripple effect, promoting diversity and inclusion not just within accounting firms but across corporate Pakistan and South Asia.
With these awards, ICAP reinforces its vision of a professional ecosystem where equity, fairness, and inclusivity are prioritized. The D&I Awards 2025 signify a commitment to recognizing and rewarding organizations that lead the way in building equitable workplaces, highlighting ICAP’s role as a catalyst for change in the region’s professional landscape.
