Balochistan Opens First Working Women’s Hostel in Khuzdar to Boost Female Empowerment

CM Mir Sarfraz Bugti hails Khuzdar’s first working women’s hostel as a milestone for women’s empowerment and professional inclusion in Balochistan.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has lauded the inauguration of the province’s first-ever working women’s hostel in Khuzdar, calling it a historic milestone in advancing women’s empowerment and social inclusion.

In a statement shared on X, CM Bugti praised Dr. Rubaba Khan Buledi, Adviser for Women Development, for leading this initiative aimed at creating safe and affordable accommodation for women pursuing professional careers away from home. He described the project as “a practical and meaningful effort to support the sisters and daughters of Balochistan who are breaking barriers and contributing to the province’s growth.”

Highlighting the deeper significance of the initiative, CM Bugti noted that the hostel is “more than just a shelter—it is a source of confidence, dignity, and hope for working women.” He emphasized that empowering women begins with ensuring their security, comfort, and independence, reaffirming the government’s commitment to building a society where women can thrive without limitations.

“This is the very approach that marks the beginning of true women’s empowerment,” he stated. “The Government of Balochistan remains fully committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where women can play their rightful role in socio-economic development.”

The newly inaugurated facility provides secure, well-equipped, and affordable accommodation designed to meet the needs of women professionals. It includes essential amenities such as safe lodging, hygienic food, and work-friendly spaces—ensuring that women from different parts of the province can live and work with confidence.

In a region known for its traditional social structures, the introduction of a dedicated hostel for working women represents a bold and forward-thinking step. It addresses a long-standing challenge faced by female professionals and students who often struggle to find safe housing options while pursuing education or employment in urban centers.

The initiative is expected to significantly enhance women’s participation in Balochistan’s formal workforce. By providing a secure space, the government aims to enable more women to join professional sectors such as education, healthcare, and administration—areas where their representation has traditionally been low due to social and logistical barriers.

Dr. Rubaba Khan Buledi, who led the project, expressed gratitude for the Chief Minister’s support and reiterated her office’s commitment to advancing women’s development across the province. She emphasized that the Khuzdar hostel is just the beginning, with plans underway to establish similar facilities in other districts to ensure equal access to opportunities for all women.

The initiative reflects Balochistan’s growing focus on gender inclusion and empowerment. As the province continues to implement reforms in education, health, and employment, projects like this working women’s hostel symbolize progress toward a more balanced and equitable society—one where women are not just participants but key drivers of development.
