WWBS to Provide Electric Bikes to Minority and Women Workers

Sindh Labour Board to mark Independence Day with welfare initiatives, invests Rs3bn in Sukuk Bonds for future projects.

KARACHI — The Workers Welfare Board Sindh (WWBS) has announced new welfare measures targeting industrial workers from minority communities and women, including the provision of electric bikes as part of the Maarka-e-Haq and Independence Day celebrations.

Sindh Labour Secretary Rafiq Qureshi said the initiative is designed to ease transportation challenges for workers while promoting environmentally friendly mobility solutions.

To bolster its financial capacity, the WWBS will invest Rs3 billion in Shariah-compliant Sukuk Bonds, approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). The move is expected to generate sustainable revenue streams for the expansion of welfare facilities across the province.

“These steps reflect our commitment to not only meet the immediate needs of workers but also to ensure the long-term growth of welfare programmes,” Qureshi added.
