President Zardari Demands Financial Autonomy for Women and Investment in the Agribusiness and Climate Sectors

In an effort to support female entrepreneurs, President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday advocated for women to have more financial autonomy and improved access to credit and financial services.
The president stated that economic empowerment of women would not only strengthen them financially but also help uplift their families in addition to contributing to the national economy while speaking with Bill Winters, the Group Chief Executive of Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), and his delegation at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
According to him, banks ought to encourage female entrepreneurs and increase their presence in the financial industry. The president was briefed by the team on the contributions of SCB to Pakistan’s economy, the growth and changes in the banking sector, and the nation’s socioeconomic advancement.
President Zardari greeted the delegation and emphasized Pakistan’s efforts to preserve the environment and advance forestry.
He disclosed that the Sindh government had established mangrove forests and made millions of dollars through the worldwide trade of carbon credits.
He said that funding the climate industry will contribute to environmental protection. The president also advocated funding infrastructure projects in the nation, particularly power plants, barrages, and small dams. He also called for investments in the agricultural sector.
He advocated for banks to provide farmers with loans and financial services to expand their access to agricultural inputs. After 160 years of profitable business in the subcontinent, the bank was commended by the president.
He declared that the bank had contributed admirably to the development of the nation’s banking industry. Along with growing its business in Pakistan, he hoped that SCB will continue to be a major player in the nation’s economy.
