Lyari’s girls on Cycles
A gift by German Condensate
KARACHI. The German envoy handed over 16 cycles to the girls of Lyari as a gift from its government on Sunday in Lyari.

The official of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of German Karachi, Ms Birgit Kihlmann, the deputy head of mission German consulate Karachi formally handed over 16 cycles as a gift to the Lyari’s Girls Café (LGC). The German official also spent some time with the cyclists of Lyari, riding cycles with them near the Custom House, Ediljee dinsha Road Karachi. Ms Brigade said that it was an honour for her to see Karachi’s girls riding cycles in the streets and roads of the metropolitan. “I am really happy that Lyari’s girls are freely riding cycles and without any fear.” She said that the German Consulate often encourage such healthy activities. Zulekha Dawood, the head of the cyclists club said that it was a great support by the German consulate as its club immediately needed cycles.

“The number of cyclists was high but we had only ten cycles.” She said that the German Consulate has been helping Lyari’s girls for last one year morally and now, she added, with gifts of cycles.

Zulekha while speaking to the media persons informed that the girls cyclists has not only encouraged girls in Lyari to freely ride cycles but it has also encouraged boys to use cycles as a source of communication. “There is no space for cyclists. The town planners must consider in their future planning a space for cyclists. One can see how many people are riding cycles. The number of cyclists is increasing day by day and I see the cyclists will soon replace motorcyclists.”The even was witnessed by the parents of the girls cyclists and the people of Lyari.
