Women Publishers’ Delegation Meets Officials to Address Print Media Concerns
APNS Women Publishing Committee raises issues of advertisement fairness and arrears with government authorities.

KARACHI: A delegation from the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS), led by Fauzia Shaheen, Chairperson of the Women Publishing Committee and Founder/Editor-in-Chief of Monthly Dastak, met with Director General Press and Information Department (PID) Iram Tanveer on Tuesday. The delegation also included Zahida Abbasi, Editor-in-Chief of Daily Nau Sijj Karachi, and Haseena Jatoi, Editor-in-Chief of Daily Moomal, Karachi.
The meeting focused on the challenges facing print media and Urdu journals, particularly issues related to fair issuance of advertisements, advertisement rates, and the payment of arrears. The delegation briefed DG PID in detail, highlighting the difficulties faced by women-led publications.
DG PID Iram Tanveer listened attentively to the concerns and assured the delegation of full cooperation in addressing the issues. She emphasized that supporting women’s journals is a priority and expressed optimism that the matters would be resolved soon.
Following this, the delegation also met with Yousif Kabooro, Director of Advertisements, Sindh. They discussed the challenges regarding advertisements and payment delays to Urdu journals and other print media. Kabooro assured the delegation that issuing advertisements to women publishers’ journals is a top priority and pledged to take prompt action to resolve the arrears.
The delegation expressed gratitude to both the DG PID and the Director of Advertisements for their assurances and commitment to supporting women in print media.
