Tragic Shootings in Bannu and Lahore Highlight Growing Concern Over Domestic Violence
Multiple women and children killed in separate incidents, police investigations underway.

In a shocking incident in Bannu’s Township area, a man allegedly opened fire inside a house, killing three women, including his wife, and a 14-year-old boy.
Another minor was injured and rushed to Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital for treatment. Authorities identified the suspect as a resident of Bizan Khel, who fled the scene.
Police registered a case under Sections 302 (murder) and 324 (attempted murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code and launched raids to apprehend him, while the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.
This tragic event follows a similar case in Lahore last week, where a Deputy Superintendent of Police, Usman Haider Gujjar, killed his wife and 19-year-old daughter.
The DSP, head of the Kahna police circle, initially reported them missing on September 27 and filed a formal kidnapping complaint on October 18. Subsequent investigations, prompted by allegations from the victim’s sister, revealed blood samples at the suspect’s residence.
Forensic evidence, including samples from a bed and door, confirmed suspicions, leading to the DSP’s confession during a high-level inquiry.
These incidents underscore a troubling pattern of domestic violence and targeted attacks on women and children. Police authorities continue to investigate both cases, emphasizing the need for timely action, support for affected families, and measures to prevent such tragedies.
The community and law enforcement are left grappling with the urgent task of addressing domestic safety and ensuring accountability for such heinous acts.
