Pakistan Calls for Women’s Involvement in Gaza Reconstruction and Peace-Building

At a UN event, Pakistan reaffirmed its solidarity with Gaza, urging the global community to include Palestinian women in reconstruction and advocate for a just, independent Palestinian state.

Expressing solidarity with the people of Gaza, Pakistan has called for the active participation of women in rebuilding the war-torn enclave and contributing to peace efforts.

Speaking at a UN Commission on the Status of Women event, Dr. Nafisa Shah, a member of Pakistan’s National Assembly and Chairperson of the Gender Mainstreaming Committee, emphasized the need to include Palestinian women as key stakeholders in finding a lasting solution.

Welcoming the event—organized by the Arab League and UN Women—as both “timely” and significant, Dr. Shah dedicated her remarks to the women of Gaza, acknowledging their resilience in the face of violence, displacement, and immense hardship.

Highlighting the urgent need for Gaza’s reconstruction, she stressed, “Rebuilding efforts must go hand in hand with ensuring justice, freedom, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. Without these, lasting peace cannot be achieved.”

Dr. Shah reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to a sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, viewing it as a fundamental step toward regional peace and stability.

Condemning the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, she expressed Pakistan’s deep solidarity with Palestinian families enduring immense suffering under occupation. “To the women of Gaza, know that your pain does not define you as victims. Every tear, every scar, and every act of resilience is a testimony to your historic struggle for justice and freedom,” she stated.

She called on the international community to unite in supporting Palestinian rights and dignity, urging global action to ensure women’s voices are heard in the pursuit of peace.

“Our support is not just sympathy—it is a statement of solidarity,” Dr. Shah emphasized. “Together, we can work towards a future where justice prevails, women play a vital role in peace-building, and the Palestinian people achieve the freedom they rightfully deserve.”
