Hearing of the appeals on Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto murder case

A division bench constituted by the Chief Justice Lahore High Court for hearing of the appeals including the appeal filed by the former President Asif Ali Zardari in the murder case of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. The special bench was consisted of Justice Mirza Viqas Rauf and Justice Chaudhry Abdul Aziz.
President Asif Ali Zardari was represented by his solicitor Sardar Abdul Latif Khosa.
The bench during the hearing expressed displeasure over the state lawyers and police officers for not producing one of the culprits, Rafaqat and observed that they do not realise the importance of the case. How the offender Rafaqat has gone missing, the court asked. The bench summoned the CPO Rawalpindi to appear before the court in the next hearing. There are five offenders, Aitezaz, Sher Zaman and Hasnain have been acquitted whereas one offender Abdur Rasheed is still in Adiala prison Rawalpindi. According to the police, the fifth offender Rafaqat is missing. Two police officers Saud Aziz and Khurram Shahzad are on bail. The trial court had announced 17 years sentence for both the police officers with a fine of 10 lac rupees each.
Nazir Dhoki the chief media coordinator of the Chair Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Media coordinator PPP, Capt. Wasif Syed and former MPA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zameen Khan were present in the court during the hearing.
