FIR Filed Against Husband in Multan Dead Woman Case

This week, a 20-year-old woman who was expecting her second child was discovered dead in Multan; her husband is suspected of killing her.

Invoking articles 302 (intentional murder), 148 (rioting armed with a deadly weapon), and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), the father of the victim, Syeda Sania Zehra, filed a first information report (FIR) at the New Multan police station.

According to the FIR, which detailed the victim’s father’s allegation, he got a call on Tuesday at nine in the morning from a police officer asking him to go to his daughter’s house.

According to the lawsuit, the victim was hanging from a ceiling fan when the family arrived on the scene. Upon the arrival of the forensic specialist, the victim’s noose was found to be readily untied, allowing the victim to break free.

It stated that a medical professional on the site declared the victim dead at 6 p.m. the same day. According to the doctor cited by the complainant, the victim’s jaw was discovered to be broken, and the victim’s feet also had rope marks on them.

It was stated that in addition to having bruises on both eyes, the victim’s body bore obvious evidence of torture. It stated that she had injuries to both elbows and that there were signs of torture on her ribs. According to the FIR, the woman was five or six months pregnant when she passed away.

The husband, the suspected, was reported to have left the scene without even telling the family that their daughter had died.

According to the complainant, the suspect was previously married to another woman and had lied to the victim’s family when they were married. A family court action that the family had brought against the suspect was subsequently dropped.

The FIR claimed that the husband repeatedly threatened his wife and put pressure on her to sell the home she owned. According to the report, the suspect had paid the complainant a visit prior to the victim’s passing and had threatened to murder her if the property registered in her name was not given to him.

The complainant claimed that his daughter was killed by her husband because he was pursuing her assets and that the incident was being “portrayed as a suicide.”

In response to directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Sohail Shaukat Butt, the provincial minister for social welfare and finance in Punjab, and Hina Parvez Butt, the chairperson of the Women Protection Authority MPA, met with the victim’s family in Multan.

In addition to expressing his condolences, Butt noted that a joint inquiry team had already been assembled and that a thorough probe will be conducted into the incident. “Exhuming the grave will yield more evidence,” stated the provincial minister.

This week, a woman’s in-laws killed her because they were running behind schedule with meal preparation. Wednesday saw the discovery of a 20-year-old woman deceased close to the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway in Swabi. Last Friday, a dead body of a woman was discovered in her Bannu room.
