Tameen Khan Poised for Breakthrough at 2025 Asian Athletics Championship

Pakistan’s fastest female sprinter, Tameen Khan, aims to shine at the Asian Athletics Championship in South Korea, overcoming training challenges to chase her Olympic dreams.

Pakistan’s fastest female sprinter, Tameen Khan, is gearing up for a pivotal moment in her athletic career as she prepares to compete at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championship. Scheduled to take place from May 27 to 31 in Gumi, South Korea, this event represents a major stepping stone for the 100-meter specialist as she strives to showcase her talent on the continental stage and pursue her ultimate goal—representing Pakistan at the Olympics.

Tameen, known for her explosive speed and unwavering determination, recently secured her spot on the national team after winning gold medals in three events, including the National Championship. Her consistent performances have earned her the title of Pakistan’s fastest female athlete twice, solidifying her position as a dominant figure in the country’s athletics scene.

During a media briefing in Peshawar, Tameen shared her excitement about the upcoming championship. “I will be competing in the 100-meter race at the Asian Championship. After my recent successes, being selected for the team feels like a big achievement. My aim is to perform at my best and bring pride to Pakistan,” she said confidently.

Despite her remarkable achievements, Tameen’s journey has not been without obstacles. Training conditions in her hometown have been far from ideal. She explained that there has been no proper running track at Qayyum Stadium for the past two years, forcing her to train on grass. The track in Hayatabad, while available, is small and in poor condition, making it difficult to prepare at a high level.

However, these challenges have not shaken her resolve. “Although the facilities are limited, I am satisfied with my preparation. My timing has improved, and I am focused on giving my best,” she said.

Tameen’s training regimen is a rigorous combination of on-track workouts and gym sessions. She dedicates three days a week to sprint training on the track and spends another three days working on strength and conditioning in the gym. As the competition approaches, her focus has shifted increasingly towards sprint-specific drills to sharpen her speed and technique.

Looking beyond the Asian Championship, Tameen is eager to gain international exposure, which she believes is essential for her growth as an athlete. “Training abroad will give me the chance to prepare better and compete with world-class athletes. With three years until the next Olympic Games, I want to make every moment count,” she emphasized.

Tameen Khan stands as a symbol of perseverance and talent in Pakistani sports, embodying the spirit of a new generation of athletes ready to break barriers and elevate Pakistan’s presence in international athletics. As the 2025 Asian Athletics Championship approaches, all eyes will be on her to deliver a performance that could mark the beginning of an inspiring journey towards Olympic glory.
