Rising Star Footy Club Wins Interclub Women’s Championship 2025
AFL Pakistan celebrates growing women’s participation in Australian Football with strong support from Australian Aid.

AFL Pakistan successfully hosted the Interclub Women’s Championship 2025 on November 29–30 at Jinnah Stadium, Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. Supported by the Australian government through Australian Aid under its Direct Aid Program (DAP), the championship featured five of Pakistan’s top women’s Australian Football clubs, showcasing the sport’s growing popularity and the increasing involvement of women in competitive footy.
Ms. Georga Nonnenmacher, Second Secretary at the Australian High Commission and Chair of the DAP Committee, attended the finals as guest of honor. She commended AFL Pakistan for broadening access to Australian Football, promoting cultural exchange, and creating fair sporting pathways for young women. Highlighting Australia’s commitment to empowering women and supporting youth development, she presented medals to the finalists and awarded the championship trophy to Rising Star Footy Club, the 2025 champions.
AFL Pakistan President and Chairman, Sardar Tariq Mehmood Khan, expressed gratitude to the Australian government and High Commission for their continued support, emphasizing how initiatives like the championship are driving growth, engagement, and opportunities for women in sports across Pakistan.
