Israel Shares Video Of Kidnapped Women Soldiers
In a significant move under the Gaza ceasefire deal, Hamas releases four Israeli soldiers, Karina Ariev, Daniella Gilboa, Naama Levy, and Liri Albag, in exchange for 200 Palestinian prisoners.

On January 25, 2025, Hamas released four Israeli female soldiers—Karina Ariev, Daniella Gilboa, Naama Levy, and Liri Albag—after 477 days in captivity. This release is part of the second round of a ceasefire deal that involved exchanging hostages for Palestinian prisoners. These four women were captured by Hamas on October 7, 2023, when the terrorist group launched an attack on the Nahal Oz army base, near the Gaza-Israel border.
At the time of their capture, the soldiers were serving as observers at the army base when Hamas-led forces attacked, killing nearly 1,200 people and abducting around 250 hostages, including the four young women. The horrific first moments of their captivity, filmed by Hamas, showed the soldiers in bloodstained pajamas, handcuffed and visibly traumatized. This footage, later released by their families, served to amplify calls for a resolution in the hostage crisis.
The women were paraded in Gaza City before being transferred to Red Cross vehicles that brought them back to Israel. Upon arrival, they were reunited with their families, a deeply emotional moment that symbolized both relief and the continuing emotional scars of their ordeal.
In exchange for the hostages, Israel released 200 Palestinian prisoners, an agreement that is part of the broader ceasefire arrangement aimed at reducing hostilities in the region.
During their time in captivity, the four soldiers endured inhumane conditions. Reports indicate they were kept in civilian apartments and underground tunnels in Gaza, subjected to poor sanitary conditions, and forced to perform tasks like cooking and cleaning for their captors, often without adequate food or care.
The harrowing journey of the four women was mirrored by the stories of other Israeli hostages, such as Agam Berger, Noa Marciano, and Ori Megidish. While Megidish was rescued in October 2023, Marciano was reportedly killed by her captors, and Berger remains in captivity.
As part of a propaganda effort, Hamas sought to diminish the memories of the atrocities committed during their initial abduction, but the Israeli government continues to highlight the traumatic images of the women being dragged from their beds, as seen in the footage. This video, shared by the Israeli government on social media, emphasized the barbaric nature of the attack and the importance of not forgetting the brutal reality of the situation.
While the release of the four women marks a moment of hope, the larger conflict remains unresolved, and many Israeli families continue to hold onto the hope that more hostages will be freed. The emotional reunion of the released soldiers with their families underscores the devastating impact of the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
The release serves as a stark reminder of the broader humanitarian crisis in the region, where violence, abductions, and loss of life continue to impact both Israeli and Palestinian communities.
