Kamala Harris Launches Campaign with Attack on Trump

US Vice-President Kamala Harris kicked off her presidential campaign by targeting Donald Trump, describing the upcoming election as a choice between a former prosecutor and a convicted felon. Addressing around 3,000 supporters in Wisconsin, Harris compared Trump to the fraudsters she prosecuted during her career.

Doland Trump responded by criticizing her border policies and labelling her “Lyin’ Kamala Harris” on social media. This event followed her securing the majority of Democratic delegates, positioning her as the party’s likely nominee. President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the race and endorsed Harris after a poor debate performance against Trump.
Harris’s campaign saw a remarkable fundraising boost, amassing over $100 million within 36 hours of Biden’s exit. A new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows Harris leading Trump by two points nationally, 44% to 42%. During her speech in Milwaukee, Harris emphasized her experience as California’s attorney general and vowed to contrast her record with Trump’s throughout the campaign. The crowd enthusiastically chanted “Kamala! Kamala!” and “lock him up,” drawing parallels to chants at Trump’s past rallies against Hillary Clinton.
