Justice Aalia Neelum Becomes the LHC’s First Female Chief Justice

Justice Aalia Neelum is the first female judge to hold the position of chief justice of the Lahore High Court. In a meeting presided over by Pakistan’s Chief Justice, Qazi Faez Isa, the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) unanimously accepted her name. The names of Justices Shujaat Ali Khan and Baqar Najafi were also taken into consideration by the council for this position.
Judge Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan, who was promoted to the Pakistan Supreme Court, would be replaced by her.
Aalia Neelum, the judge, is who?
Born in 1966, Justice Neelum ranked third on the high court’s seniority list. She graduated from Punjab University Law College in 1995 with a law degree, and she also possesses various other legal credentials.
She became a licensed attorney in 1996 and was admitted to both the Supreme Court in 2008 and the High Court in 1998. She worked in a variety of legal areas, including anti-terrorism, civil, criminal, and constitutional law.
Judge Neelum joined the Lahore High Court in 2013 as an ad hoc judge and was nominated as a permanent judge in 2015. Standard operating procedures (SOPs) for video link evidence recording were also established by her.
