A Pakistani-Woman’s Heartfelt Note After Being Let Go From Elon Musk’s Tesla Company

A woman of Pakistani descent recently reported that she was let go from Elon Musk’s Tesla, the company that manufactures electric vehicles, due to ongoing layoffs. Interoperability Lead for the Global Charging Team at Tesla, Bisma Rehman, expressed her sentiments about her experience there in an emotional post on LinkedIn. She wrote in her post that she considered working at Tesla to be a “privilege and honor” and that, despite her departure, her image will continue to appear on the company’s website in recognition of her contributions.

“It was a privilege and an honor to work with the most dedicated people who poured their heart and soul into building charging technology and a network that not only served Tesla drivers but also welcomed all EVs, making traveling with an EV a seamless experience for everyone,” wrote Rehman.

Ms. Rehman revealed that her team, which consisted of more than 500 people, was disbanded in an instant. In addition, she hoped that individuals who had felt relieved would regain their motivation in their next positions. She went on to elaborate on her work at Tesla and how she and her team set a “very high bar for excellence” for both the industry and themselves.

“Sadly, tonight saw the dissolution of the 500+ member Tesla Charging Team, which included myself. A team that trusted me to lead high impact teams and programs for Tesla charging and the industry, giving me the freedom to do some of the best work of my career to date,” the woman remarked.
It was difficult to say goodbye to those who were so committed to the cause, resolving the most difficult issues and accomplishing seemingly insurmountable feats, motivating me to improve every day. We set a very high standard for excellence for the industry and for ourselves, and I hope that we can all muster the same motivation for success in our future endeavors,” Ms. Rehman continued.

The post was shared a few days ago by Ms. Rehman. Since then, people have left more than 200 reactions to it along with a number of comments expressing their condolences for her job loss and best wishes for the future.

“I apologize that this is occurring, but I have no doubt that you will get back up on your feet! The NACS program made the right decision in hiring you, and any organization would be very fortunate to have you on staff. One user said, “I’m happy to spread the word wherever I can.
“There are a lot of us who find inspiration in you, Bisma. Although things are really difficult right now, you have the talent and skill set to find something truly amazing very soon. I’m praying for you,” said someone else.

“Even before you joined Tesla, Bisma, I witnessed you working incredibly hard on your abilities and career. There are undoubtedly still incredible opportunities in front of you! Best wishes and perseverance during this challenging period! Glad to assist in any manner I can,” added a third user.
A company that makes electric vehicles and is owned by Elon Musk announced earlier this month that it would be laying off over 10% of its global workforce. In a confidential email obtained by electrick.com, Elon Musk stated that the company’s rapid expansion has resulted in redundant roles, and that cost cutting measures are imperative for the “next phase of growth”.
