PSO Expands Shaheen Program to Empower More Women

After Karachi's success, PSO Shaheen launches in Lahore and Islamabad to boost women's mobility and confidence through driving and bike-riding training.

Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has launched Phase 2 of its flagship women’s empowerment initiative, PSO Shaheen, expanding the program from Karachi to Lahore and Islamabad. This significant expansion aims to quadruple the program’s reach and continue building mobility, independence, and confidence among Pakistani women.

Originally launched in Karachi, the PSO Shaheen program focuses on training women in car driving and bike riding — two vital skills that open doors to employment, entrepreneurship, and self-sufficiency. In its first phase, the initiative saw outstanding results, with 82% of participants successfully securing driving licenses and training certificates.

With the new phase, PSO reinforces its commitment to gender empowerment. The program not only provides practical mobility training but also helps participants turn their new skills into real-world opportunities. Many women from the first cohort have used their training to support family needs, launch delivery or transport-related micro-businesses, or even finance and purchase their own bikes.

The expansion to Lahore and Islamabad reflects PSO’s goal of scaling impact nationwide. By breaking down barriers to mobility, PSO Shaheen is transforming lives and reshaping gender roles in society. The initiative continues to inspire a new generation of women to move forward — confidently and independently.
