Parliamentary Caucus for Child Rights Condemns and Demands Action Against Tragic Rape and Murder of Innocent Girl

Parliamentary Caucus for Child Rights under Convenor Mehnaz Akbar Aziz has expressed deep concern and taken urgent notice of the brutal assault and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Bhara Kahu, Islamabad.

The Convenor and the Members strongly condemned this heinous crime, emphasizing that such incidents of violence against children are a disgrace to our society and have no place in our country.

According to statement, the Caucus has promptly ordered the law enforcement agencies to initiate a thorough investigation into the tragic incident and urged the concerned bodies to conduct the investigation transparently and submit a comprehensive report without delay.

Ms. Mehnaz also stressed upon the swift apprehension of the perpetrators and called for the strictest possible punishment under the rule of law.

The prevention of such abhorrent acts and the establishment of a safe and nurturing environment for the next generation are our highest priorities, stated Mehnaz Akbar Aziz.

She also called upon the government, parliament, media, civil society, and the public at large to actively engage in efforts to prevent the rape and murder of minors.

Last night on Sunday a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed in the federal capital Islamabad.

The incident took place at Bara Kahu and the dead body of the victim was found in an under-construction building. Police said the girl was seven years old and she had been tortured to death afte rape.

Police further claimed that the suspect, a teenager, had been arrested. Police shifted the body to hospital for legal formalities.
