Peshawar Airport’s Environmental Control Committee on Bird Hazard Meets With Eid Ul Azha Cleanliness Woes on Mind
Environmental Control Committee Meeting on Bird Hazard was held at BKIAP Peshawar under the Chairmanship of APM BKIAP attended by Dy. APM/MAS, COO/ATS, ECO, Chairman AOC besides Additional Deputy Commissioner, AC Town and other stakeholders from District Administration.
The Chairman briefed all the stakeholders on measures taken by the Airport Management BKIAP Peshawar to keep bird hazard to minimum at and around the Airport especially in the context of Eid ul Azha. A presentation was given by the ECO CAA wherein he highlighted various aspects of Bird Hazard Control i.e. Regular deployment of bird dispersers, removal of wild growth/vegetation, trimming of trees and denesting, constitution of special committee which will carry out door to door awareness campaign, distribution of pamphlets and display of banners, meeting local Imam masjids to preach to people in Jumma and Eid ul Azha Sermons regarding cleanliness and proper disposal of offal (sacrificial remains/wastes).
The chair requested Deputy Commissioner (Relief) and other stakeholders to put in extra efforts in surrounding areas in order to control bird hazard and awareness among the general public regarding cleanliness and proper disposal of wastes / sacrificed animals remains. After the meeting joint visit was also carried out in the surrounding areas identifying waste/garbage dumps, water stagnation/ponds and other potential sources/ bird attraction sites for appropriate remedial measures at the earliest.
